What is REBarcamp?

REBarCamp is a movement founded on the “givers gain” philosophy of social networking, sharing and learning as it applies to Real Estate sales and marketing.

Maybe another good way to explain it is, “It takes a Village” to learn social media and technology as it applies to the Real Estate industry.

The original RE BarCamp was held in San Francisco in 2008 and has since inspired a learning epidemic that has spread throughout the entire United States and even into Toronto, Canada!

So, what exactly happens at a REBarCamp?  Following is an excerpt from the official ReBarCamp.com Website:

What is RE BarCamp?

The concept for RE BarCamp came from a technology BarCamp event held in San Francisco. Wikipedia defines a barcamp as:

an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants.

RE BarCamp is a BarCamp for Real Estate (R.E. BarCamp). What that means- the event is not structured like a typical planned conference. Every session is not planned out in advance. Nobody is paid to deliver a session. Anybody can deliver a session and attendees are strongly encouraged to participate.

Although most every REBarCamp is independently organized and operated, the spirit remains the same.  What you will find at most barcamps is a wide range of experienced and inexperienced social marketers sharing and learning together.

For almost any online marketing or cool technology you can think of, there’s someone at barcamp that has experience with it.

Because REBarCamp typically does not have a structured agenda for workshops and classes, you will find that your experience becomes more and more valuable as you make your way through the day and become familiar with the un-conference format.

It is for this reason that we have organized REBarCamp Bootcamp as a way for you to build your familiarity with the format, learn the “basics” of barcamp style sessions, and plan your day around the key subjects that interest you most.
